परमाणु में भूत है

इसलिए जोर से मत कहना

परमाणु में भूत है

इस बात को जोर से मत कहना

क्या पता प्रधान मंत्री ढूँढ निकालें वैशेषिक से कोई स्त्रोत

कि हमारे पुरखों को यह पता था

पुरखों को हर बात पता थी

यह भी कि कभी ऐसा राज आएगा कि कौआ मोती खाएगा

उनको यह तो ज़रूर पता था

कि भूत या भविष्य दोनों वर्तमान से ही बनते हैं

भविष्य में जीते हुए हम भूत के अणुओं को यादृच्छ आकार देते हैं

वाकई परमाणु में भूत है

अब भाषा की वह औकात रही नहीं कि इससे अधिक कह सके

ग़रीब हो भाषा तो ग़रीब होता है उसे जीने वाला

एक ही कायनात में सफर पूरा नहीं कर पाता

तो और कायनातों की क्या सोचे

भूत दौड़ता रहता है कायनात-दर-कायनात

प्यार और नफ़रत के खेल खेलता

हर मुल्क में कभी बुद्ध और कभी मिहिरकुल बाँटता

इसलिए जोर से मत कहना

कि परमाणु में भूत है।

There is a ghost in the atom

Do not say it loud

You never know

The prime minister may find a shloka in Vaisheshika

And claim that it was known to our ancestors

Our ancestors knew everything

They knew that a day will come when

Broken clocks will be used to know the time

They certainly knew that

The past and the future are made in the present

We live in the future giving random shapes to the past

Indeed there is a ghost in the atom

The language does not have the power to say any more of it

When a language is poor then the one who lives it, is poor

One universe is too large to know it well

Let alone multiverses

The ghost runs from a universe to another

Indulging in love and hate

Placing a Buddha and a Mihirkula in every Nation

So speak not aloud that

There is a ghost in the atom.
